A 19-year-old man got stuck in a corn chopper in Hülseberg, north of Bremen. He was pulled up to his waist into the agricultural machinery and trapped between the sharp teeth of the machine.
A terrible tragedy occurred during a harvest parade in the village. A man who had taken part in the festivities stepped into an adjacent cornfield – possibly to relieve himself.
Apparently he was overlooked by the driver of a corn chopper in the dense undergrowth. Witnesses heard the 19-year-old’s “terrible screams” and alerted emergency services.
Surgeon has flown in
It took rescuers about an hour to free the seriously injured young man. A rescue helicopter flew in a surgeon who supervised the rescue operation. The 19-year-old was then flown to the Boberg Accident Hospital in Hamburg, reports “Bild”.
It has not been revealed whether both of the man’s legs were cut off. A full investigation has been ordered.
