The Working Group Preventive and Social Medicine (aks) is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Since its foundation in 1964, the association has developed into one of the most important healthcare providers in Vorarlberg.
When you walk through the corridors of the aks location in Bregenz, it is quiet. The wooden panelling on the walls radiates cosiness in a modern environment. Every now and then you come across people in sportswear with a towel over their shoulder. They go to the therapy rooms. That is where the peace ends. Behind one of the doors, exercise bikes are going at full speed. Almost all of them are occupied. The patients are pedalling hard. Medical devices monitor bodily functions. A therapist also supervises the execution of her treatments.
