Long wait – When will the diggers arrive after the once-in-a-century flood?

Date:

After a week of rain, many Upper Austrians have had anxious nights, who last ‘drowned’ in 2013. Since the flood of the century, there has been much talk in the Eferding basin, the area hardest hit at the time, but nothing has been built. The “Krone” discovered when and where the excavators would arrive at the earliest.

Peter was merciful to Upper Austria this year when he opened the floodgates of heaven. But thousands of compatriots trembled, with images of 2002 and 2013 in their minds when they were ‘drunk’. After the flood in 2002, it took seven years to build the Machland Dam at a cost of 182.6 million euros. The flood in 2013 occurred before construction began on the protection of the Bay of St. Georgen against the “Danube water”, but these projects have been completed.
