On Monday afternoon, the Passau police received a tip from Bavarian detectives about a possible drug smuggling case. Passau Border Police officers arrested a 35-year-old man of Bulgarian nationality in possession of one kilo of marijuana.
Suspicion of further drug trafficking
The man was under strong suspicion that he had hidden additional quantities of narcotics in a bus from Amsterdam to Vienna. The officers of the Police Cooperation Center immediately informed the Vienna Police.
Nine kilos of cannabis in two suitcases
Late Monday afternoon, officers from the Landstraße city police command found two suitcases containing a total of nine kilos of cannabis herb in vacuum-sealed plastic bags in the cargo hold of the coach arriving in Vienna – the officers were able to secure them. On the orders of the Passau public prosecutor, the 35-year-old was taken to a penitentiary.
