After the new attempted attack on US presidential candidate Donald Trump, the Public Prosecution Service published a letter. The main suspect has promised a reward if someone completes his crime. ‘I did my best’, they say.
He gave everything he “could muster”. “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, but I let you down,” the letter from the main suspect reads. The text is said to have been in a box that the 58-year-old had left with an acquaintance before the crime. According to the Public Prosecution Service, ammunition, a metal pipe, various building materials, tools, four telephones and other documents were also stored there. The friend opened the box and notified the police after hearing about the crime.
Longer pre-trial detention?
The purpose of the investigation is to ensure that the suspect remains in custody. Ryan Wesley Routh is currently charged with possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and destroying the serial number of the weapon. Additional charges are expected.
As reported, a week ago on Sunday, the Secret Service shot and killed a gunman at Trump’s golf course in Florida (see video above). The suspected assassin didn’t fire a bullet and fled, but was arrested and charged a short time later. Court documents show that Routh’s cell phone had been at the crime scene for about 12 hours earlier.
Two months ago, an attack on Trump took place in the US state of Pennsylvania, in which the politician was slightly injured. The US presidential election is on November 5.
