With an angry post on his platform ‘X’, Elon Musk responded on Thursday to a message about a planned investment summit in Great Britain. According to the BBC, the billionaire was not invited to next month’s meeting.
“I don’t think anyone should go to Britain, where convicted pedophiles are being released, and lock people up for social media posts,” Musk wrote, without providing any evidence.
The Commerce and Treasury departments could not immediately be reached for comment on the BBC report or Musk’s claims.
A few weeks ago, the new British government released 1,700 prisoners to relieve overcrowded prisons. Convicted sex offenders were not included.
Anger over tweet about anti-Muslim riots
Musk is criticized, among other things, for his position on the anti-Muslim riots in August. At the time, in an article on X, he described civil war in Britain as “inevitable”. So far, more than a thousand people have been arrested in connection with the riots, some for inciting hatred on social media.
The British Labor government led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer invited international technology and financial groups to the investment summit in October. She hopes this will bring new investments to stimulate the economy.
In May, Musk met French President Emmanuel Macron at the ‘Choose France’ summit in Paris.
