On the occasion of this year’s National Council election, the “Krone” examines all parties in a special digital format. Now it’s all about the NEOS. For once we go back a little longer: to 2012, when a small group with a new party dared to enter federal politics.
As a liberal alternative to the established major parties, ‘NEOS – New Austria’ was formed twelve years ago around Matthias Strolz from Vorarlberg and Veit Dengler from Styria. At the time, the young party, which was said to have ÖVP roots and was heading towards the ‘New Austria’, was considered not to have much of a chance – but it was successful in its first attempt for the 2013 National Council elections . (then together with the Liberal Forum). Will the Pinks reach the 10 percent mark this time?
