Pope Leo XIV said on Tuesday that God made a great surprise with his choice. A nun would have already predicted his new task. “You must accept God’s will, put his life in the hands of the Lord,” he said.
“Here I am, Mr what you want. I will do. And in this spirit I am with you today,” said the Pontifex in an interview with a group of Peruven. On Tuesday he also unexpectedly visited the bishop’s dicaster, which he had led to his pope election since 2023 and spoke to the employees.
The American cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was elected on 8 May as the successor of the late Pope Francis, although he had not been the nearest circle of favorites in the conclave.
