When a garage in Florida was flooded with seawater during Hurricane Helene, the Tesla inside caught fire. Within a minute, the electric vehicle was on fire. An authority warned with surveillance video.
The fire broke out under the video and spread to the entire vehicle within a very short time. The garage filled with thick smoke.
Pinella County government warned of similar incidents during the hurricane on Facebook:
The authority warned: “Electric vehicles flooded with salt water could catch fire.” You may not charge, drive or store electric vehicles in the house or garage. A distance of 15 meters from flammable material and a check in the workshop are also recommended.
Hurricane ‘Helene’ claimed more than 90 lives
Hurricane ‘Helene’ made landfall in the northwest of the state of Florida on Thursday. It was classified in the second highest category and reached wind speeds of up to 225 kilometers per hour. More than ninety people were killed in the strongest storm in the region to date. However, this number could still increase.
South Carolina was hit particularly hard
South Carolina was hit hardest of all five affected US states. “It’s a devastating blow, but we will get through this. Help is on the way, but it will take time,” said Governor Henry McMaster. Work is currently underway to restore water supply systems, communications networks and key transport routes.
