There are “indications that Iran is preparing to launch a ballistic missile attack on Israel soon,” a US government official warned in Washington on Tuesday. Such a direct attack on Israel would have “serious consequences for Iran,” he said.
The US is actively supporting defense preparations to prepare Israel for this attack, the official continued. The Israeli army is currently carrying out massive airstrikes against the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia in Lebanon and, according to its own statements, launched a “limited” ground operation in the neighboring country on Tuesday evening. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Friday.
Second front against Israel
Immediately after the radical Islamic Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 last year, Hezbollah opened a second front against Israel with regular rocket attacks from Lebanon.
