Fighting between Hezbollah and Israel continues in the area. Israel has threatened to strike anywhere in the Middle East.
Southern Lebanon has become a war zone and fighting between the forces of the Lebanese Shia militia Hezbollah and the Israeli army continues in the area. Hezbollah has stated that this is so Israeli forces counterattack who have entered southern Lebanon and claim to have inflicted casualties on Israeli ranks by firing projectiles at tanks and helicopters.
For his part, Israel has confirmed the deaths of eight soldiers who took part in Tuesday’s raid. These are the first deaths on Lebanese soil since the 2006 war.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has assured that the entire country is “in the midst of a harsh war against Iran’s axis of evil.” After expressing his condolences for the soldiers’ deaths, he ended the display by saying that “all evacuees will be able to return to their homes.”
The Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Army, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, has assured this Israel plans to respond to the Iranian attack launching 180 rockets into Israeli territory and has assured that its military “has the capacity to reach and hit any point in the Middle East.”
International reaction
Meanwhile, G7 countries, urged to address the situation in the Middle East, expressed “strong concern over the escalation in recent hours” and warned that “a regional conflict is in no one’s interest.”
That is why they have argued for continuing to move towards a “diplomatic solution” that they consider “still possible”.
Amid this situation, European countries have implemented evacuation plans for their citizens. Spain will send three military planes to Beirut on Thursday to evacuate some 380 Spaniards staying in the country. It could also assist in the evacuation of citizens of other nationalities.
Likewise, both Germany and Britain have already chartered their first planes to take their citizens out of the country.
