The ORF household tax caused many problems for two pensioners from Wels. The couple allegedly accidentally paid twice and wanted to clarify this error. However, despite repeated attempts, they were unable to reach anyone at the ORF Contribution Office (OBS) hotline.
The household tax that the ORF is intended to finance has been in place since January 1 and customers continue to report problems. For example, Rudolf D. (71) and his partner, with whom he has lived in Wels for years. “I dutifully paid the household taxes, but suddenly my partner also received benefits,” says the retiree.
Hotline is not available
And then happened what is currently happening to some customers, as evidenced by phone calls and emails to the editorial staff of “Krone”. They say it is extremely difficult to reach the hotline. Online help should not be an option for many – especially older students. Rudolf D. tried again and again – without success. Finally, the ORF Contribution Office (OBS) sent a reminder.
Even sent a death certificate
Rudolf D. even sent the death certificate of his wife, who died 34 years ago, because he thought the problem was related to that.
The “Krone” turned to OBS to find a solution for Welser and his partner. The dilemma apparently lay in the fact that there was no door number in the inventory number, but there was in the partner’s registration form. This should solve the problem.
