Four Hungarian burglars (25, 26, 31 and 36) were caught red-handed in Hart near Graz on Tuesday. Two alert community workers noticed them trying to climb out of the window of a single-family home and chased them away. During a manhunt, the police were able to arrest the gang.
On Tuesday afternoon, two construction site employees from the municipality of Hart near Graz showed a lot of courage. Berhard Medved and Andreas Kobald were delivering newspapers shortly before 2 p.m. and saw a suspicious car in the driveway of a single-family home. Upon further inspection, they discovered that a person was trying to leave the home through an open window.
Heavily pregnant woman fell
The two immediately ran to the house, which scared the gang of burglars away. The suspects ran away in different directions – a heavily pregnant woman from the gang fell. Construction site employees immediately started the rescue chain and alerted the police. Four suspects were ultimately arrested through a manhunt including a police dog patrol.
Part of the loot secured
It later turned out that the burglars had entered the house through a tilted toilet window. The two men (31 and 36) and two women (25 and 26) seized cash and jewelery worth several thousand euros. Some of the loot was recovered. The gang confessed and were taken to Graz-Jakomini prison. The four Hungarian citizens are now under investigation for further burglaries.
The courage of the community workers was rewarded with great gratitude. “We are happy that the employees were so quick and helped us. “Also a big thank you to the police for quickly clearing the place,” said the residents. Mayor Jakob Frey (citizen list of Hart bei Graz worth living) also praises the “considerate and quick action”.
