The 66-year-old remains silent towards the authorities. He is currently in custody because there is an acute risk of fleeing and committing a crime, Christina Salzborn, spokeswoman for the Vienna Regional Court, said on Monday.
Refused statement
The man already refused to testify during police interrogations and now provided “no information whatsoever” to the judiciary.
Resuscitation was unsuccessful
Neighbors and passersby heard the cries for help and some may even have seen the man attack the 62-year-old on the balcony of the Balderichgasse apartment. The 66-year-old opened the door for the arriving police officers and was arrested. The professional rescue team tried to resuscitate the woman. However, the 62-year-old died on the spot from her serious injuries.
The man had not previously been noticed because of violent acts against his wife. According to the police, there was no entry or approach ban.
