Birgit suffered from bleeding and pain for two years and became increasingly withdrawn. A hysterectomy brought relief – but then a piece of femininity is also missing? The “Krone” asked around and spoke to experts.

Birgit was in her mid-40s when she suddenly started having problems with her periods: “It was completely irregular, I had constant pain and bleeding between periods,” says the mother of a teenage daughter.
