The clean-up work after the flood will take another two to three weeks in Vienna. However, many Viennese do not care much about this. A recklessness that can be dangerous.
The cycle path along the Vienna River has been closed since the September floods. Railings were torn away, signs were bent and rocks were washed away. The responsible MA 45 (Vienna Waters) recently announced that the clean-up work will take “two to three weeks”.
No control
Although the exits are closed with barriers and have warning signs, many ignore this. Especially in good weather, cyclists and joggers are out and about on the river path between Auhof and Kennedybrücke. Even families with children drive around here without any worries. The same applies to stair riders in the dark who can collide with construction equipment at any time. The ban is of course not monitored.
From October 15, the Wiener Linien and the municipality will start repair work on the bottom of the Vienna River in the Pilgramgasse area. Because material is being collected, the Linke Wienzeile will be narrowed to one lane. The work will last until December. The metro construction site was severely damaged by the flood.
