Report requested – Tesla caught fire: four dead in France

Date:

Four people have died in a tragic accident involving a Tesla electric car in France. According to initial investigations, the car collided with several road signs at high speed.

As the Public Prosecution Service announced on Sunday, the vehicle caught fire for reasons that are still unclear. The accident happened on Saturday evening near the western French city of Niort.

The four occupants were already dead when rescuers arrived at the scene of the accident. As part of the investigation, a report on the vehicle will also be requested.

Tesla has often been criticized for safety issues. In April, tech billionaire Elon Musk’s company reached an out-of-court settlement with the family of an engineer who died in a 2018 accident involving a Tesla Model X in Silicon Valley.

In December, Tesla recalled two million cars in the US to reinstall the affected software due to possible risks associated with the Autopilot feature.
