Terrible accident Monday morning on the Inntalautobahn (A12) in the Tyrolean Oberland: a van collided with a mowing vehicle and then rammed a car. The fire brigade had to free a trapped person from a wreck. All told, three people were injured in the crash. The A12 had to be closed.
The accident happened shortly before 9:30 am on the A12 near Telfs (Innsbruck-Land district). According to the fire brigade, a van hit an Asfinag mowing vehicle that was mowing the grass on the central reservation.
The force of the impact then threw the van into the other lane, where it then rammed a car. Both vehicles then ended up in the adjacent ditch.
The steering wheel is stuck in the wreckage
The driver of the van was trapped in the vehicle. “The fire brigade team freed him with the help of the hydraulic rescue apparatus, provided fire protection and supported the rescue service in rescuing people,” the Silz fire brigade said.
The released driver was then flown to the clinic in Innsbruck by emergency helicopter. The people in the second vehicle were able to leave before emergency services arrived. It is not yet known how seriously those involved were injured.
A12 closed for one hour
Due to the accident and the large-scale operation that followed, the Inntal highway towards Innsbruck had to be closed in this area for about an hour. Traffic is now being diverted locally.
