Settlers in an allotment settlement in Leopoldstadt complain of problems with mail delivery. What worked well in the past no longer works well after a change of delivery person. The post office in Vienna admits that there are teething problems. But residents suspect another reason.
Everything was fine until June this year. Then the problems started. Letters, bills, election information and advertising leaflets with vouchers did not arrive at all, arrived late or ended up in the wrong letterboxes. This is what settlers from the Grünland allotment garden association in the 2nd district say. Chairman Petra Hübsch confirms: “Yes, we have some complaints about this.”
Orientation problems
The reason was a change in personnel. The previous reliable delivery person stopped in July. The “new man” apparently had difficulty getting his bearings. Historically, the facility has been expanded several times. The numbering of the houses is therefore not always completely logical. But at the entrance to the site there is a clear plot plan.
“Unfortunately, there were problems with delivery in the first few weeks. However, the delivery person has now been well trained and sensitized to the conditions in the allotment garden,” a postal spokesperson explained to the “Krone”.
Walter Haab objects that there is still no correct delivery. “When it comes to invoices, I sometimes get the third reminder and nothing before that. “Advertising brochures with vouchers often do not appear,” complains the settler. He estimates that this would cost him 80 euros.
Is there something else behind it?
Residents suspect that there is another reason behind the problems than ‘merely’ the change in personnel. Some believe that the post office wants to force them to set up a central mailbox on the edge of the building. But the colonists have rejected this several times.
They would then have to travel longer distances to reach their shipments, even in snow and ice. Resident Haab is also not positive about the yellow fox’s complaint handling: “Calls end up in the call center, then there is radio silence. You cannot reach those responsible in the neighborhood.”
