The Ukrainian army says it has destroyed a Russian military aircraft in an area of the Urals, far from the Ukrainian border. Accordingly, the plane was located at the Orenburg-2 airport, about 1,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
The transport plane had already been destroyed on Sunday evening at an army airfield in the Orenburg region, the Ukrainian military intelligence service HUR said on Monday in the online service Telegram.
It was a Soviet-designed Tupolev Tu-134 aircraft, commonly used to transport Russian Defense Ministry executives, the report said.
Military intelligence released images of a burning plane (see video above) and called it arson. Russian authorities initially did not comment on the incident.
Kiev repeatedly attacks targets on Russian territory. According to its own statements, Ukraine is targeting the military and industrial infrastructure that Russia uses for its war in Ukraine.
Since the start of the war of aggression in February 2022, Moscow has arrested hundreds of people for alleged sabotage and arson of military, railway and other infrastructure facilities.
