Rules of Salzburg – Residents of the old town must dismantle the solar system

Date:

A man from Salzburg installed a photovoltaic system on the roof of his old mansion. And all without a building permit. Now he has to tear it down again because it does not fit in with the “historic roof landscape”. That wasn’t the only rule he ignored.

Can I build a photovoltaic system on a house in the old town of Salzburg? A Salzburger and owner of a house in the old town would probably not have even asked himself this question. Because, as can be read in a recent ruling by the administrative court, the person concerned had one installed on his roof without permission: exactly 15 PV elements, irregularly arranged and some of which even extend to the adjacent plot. In February, the person concerned subsequently asked the building authorities for their blessing.
