All unions have called on staff to join a demonstration around the company at 11 a.m. There was no consensus on the rest of the mobilization actions.
A total of 4,700 Mercedes-Benz employees in Vitoria-Gasteiz will be called this Wednesday for a day of strike declared separately by the CCOO and UGT on the one hand and by ELA, LAB and ESK on the other, before the collective bargaining was blocked, although there is consensus reached on some of the planned mobilizations and all unions have called on workers to participate in a demonstration at 11:00 around the companyaccording to union sources.
These strikes are due to the lack of progress in the negotiation of the agreement, the last meeting It was held last Friday with no closer positions with the company and no new date to negotiate, as the company informed them of its intention not to hold new meetings as long as there are strikes.
This strike on Wednesday was initially called by the CCOO and the UGT, who have also registered another strike call for the 29th. ELA, LAB and ESK They called a strike meeting from July 27 to July 1, a proposal supported by the workers, who also proposed to strike on July 22, the date of mobilization planned by the CCOO and the UGT, and as a result they called also.
Finally, at least one of the planned mobilizations during tomorrow’s strike – an 11 a.m. demonstration – will be supported by all unions to bring about a demonstration that will bring the entire workforce together.
ELA, LAB and ESK decided to participate in this demonstration, initially convened by CCOO and UGT, because, according to ELA sources, they understood that a picture of mobilization of the entire workforce needed to be shown.

In the rest of the mobilization acts there was no consensus and from ELA, LAB and ESK it has been convened, in addition to: informative pickets in the different shifts, a concentration at 10.30 am at the main entrance of the company Yes at 6.30 pm a concentration and demonstration in the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca
From ELA they indicated that they had asked the other unions to participate in that afternoon mobilization, but they indicated that in the end this was not the case.
ELA sources have called on the company to continue to meet with the workers’ representatives even if there are strikes, because if you want to reach an agreement, you have to meet.
The CCOO, for its part, recalled that in addition to the 11 o’clock demonstration, it also proposed to the other trade unions to participate in the concentration they called at 6pm in front of the SEA employersbut total unity in that act has not been possible, although Ekintza and PIM will join the CCOO and UGT mobilizations.
CCOO, who has indicated that there are also informative pickets throughout the dayregrets that there has been no progress “but quite the contrary” in negotiations with the company, from which they have demanded “certainties and not just commitments” as they have to “close issues” after 18 months.
The address of Mercedes Benz Vitoria has described as “completely incoherent” that the works council’s response to the proposed $1.2 billion investment plan for the Alava plant is a strike calendar, like the strike planned for this Wednesday, which it considers “incomprehensible and damaging” .
