Teacher as rescuer – child jumped from sea wall – floated into the inn

Terrible incident late Wednesday morning in Innsbruck: a child suddenly jumped from the bank of the inn and was washed away into the water. A teacher was able to pull it back to shore. The child was taken to the clinic with serious injuries.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m., the alarm from the Tyrolean control center went off: “Drowning accident in water,” according to the first report.

Teacher pulled child out of the water
It has now become known that a dramatic incident took place in Innsbruck between the University Bridge and the Inn Bridge. “A child jumped from the bank wall of the inn at Mariahilf,” said police spokesman Christian Viehweider when asked by “Krone”.

According to initial information, the disabled child was then aborted about 50 to 100 meters away. A teacher was then able to pull it back to shore and administer first aid.

In hospital with serious injuries
The sea wall at the site of the incident was approximately four to five meters high. The child suffered serious leg injuries. After initial care, he was taken by ambulance to the clinic in Innsbruck.
