A special incident occurred during a Wega operation: four young people are suspected of robbing an electronics store on Thursday evening. Two of them tried to hide from the emergency services under boxes in the storage room – without success.
When witnesses saw four young people apparently trying to break a window of an electronics store, they immediately alerted the responsible police in Vienna-Favoriten.
Hidden under boxes
During the search of the store, officers from the Wega special unit made a bizarre discovery. Two of the suspected burglars, aged twelve and thirteen, apparently saw the boxes in the storage room as the only possible hiding place.
The third, a 15-year-old suspect, fled through an intermediate window to the adjacent apartment. There he was stopped by a resident.
Theft in the four-digit euro area
If the four young people had gone unnoticed, they would probably have become a few thousand euros richer. Using a wooden sword, the suspects allegedly broke into the store’s cash register and stole four-figure amounts of cash. Officers were also able to secure storm masks and work gloves.
The 15-year-old suspect was temporarily arrested and later released on the orders of the Vienna public prosecutor’s office. The 12-year-old and the 13-year-old were reported and handed over to their parents.
