Navarre’s teaching unions maintain strike on 29th even as they see “progress”

Date:

The Ministry of Education has accepted a number of trade union demands, such as the linear reduction of primary education ratios and the reduction of institutional training hours for teachers.

The unions They maintain the call for a strike by public education teachers scheduled for next month October 29 in Navarra, although they consider it “positive” that the provincial government’s Ministry of Education is responding with “gradual improvements” in the negotiations over their employment conditions in recent weeks.

This was stated by representatives of CCOO and Steilas, present at the meeting of the Sectoral Council of Teaching Personnel held last Tuesday and in which the Minister of Education, Carlos Gimenohas accepted a number of trade union demands, such as the linear reduction of the proportions in primary education and the reduction of the number of hours of institutional teacher training from 35 to 25 hours.

After finishing the meeting, from Steilas, Raul Lopezhas considered that “there is no proposal for a linear reduction in the proportions in all stages of education, nor with regard to unpaid overtime, and therefore we will continue to bear a large overload of work. There is also no progress in terms of stability of the workforce, the high ratios in guidance and PT and the requirements for the group over 55 years old.

In the same line, the representative of CCOO Unai Álava, has explained that all unions “have positively appreciated that the Ministry continues to respond to the mobilizations with gradual improvements”, but precisely for this reason they believe that “the path of mobilization has not yet been exhausted, and that of negotiations neither.”

“We also continue with an outstretched hand, as the counselor says, but we understand that without the mobilization there would not have been this convergence of positions. That is why we maintain the strike day on the 29th in the hope that answers will come. given to the needs we have proposed from the beginning, as we see that these can be achieved between now and the 29th,” he stated.

For his part, the Minister of Education understands “that it is a sufficient package of measures to reach an agreement, but I also tell you that if no agreement is signed on these measures, they cannot be implemented.” It has affected the importance of the two main measures adopted, the reduction of primary education ratios and the reduction of institutional training.

That is why the confidential counselor has offered Navarrese teachers new linear reductions in the ratio in the primary school phase, in particular the reduction to 23 male and female students from the first class of primary education from next year, with the commitment to gradually transfer this reduction in the ratio carry over to subsequent years. courses.
