The General Assemblies of Biscay on Wednesday approved an initiative asking the Provincial Council to include in the 2023 fiscal year the multi-year financial allocation necessary to move forward in the bidding and drafting of the construction project for the Rekalde Bypass “once the Provincial Council of Biscay has finalized the roadmap” that will be followed and when the Ministry of Infrastructure and Territorial Development completes the ongoing preliminary studies.
It is the necessary infrastructure for the subsequent demolition of the A-8 highway overpass in that Bilbao district, a “complex” project, the implementation of which as a whole will take about nine and a half years.
The House plenary this Wednesday debated two motions tabled by PP and EH Bildu on the construction of the Rekalde bypass and the viaduct demolition which crosses this district of Bilbao, and finally approved a compromise amendment agreed by EH Bildu and the two groups of the Foral government, PNV and PSE-EE. This agreement also added the positive vote of Elkarrekin Bizkaia, while the PP abstained.
