Presumably to keep warm, a cat crawled into a minibus in Tyrol. The animal was discovered after an accident in the workshop in Innsbruck. Miraculously, the velvet paw had no injuries. Unbelievable: the kitten had already escaped two months ago.
Last Friday’s special story started on the Seefeld plateau. The driver of a company car left there in the morning for Innsbruck. The driver stopped in Innsbruck. The tiger cat must have been “on board” here – or already on the plateau.
Accident and towing
He then left again with the stowaway in the engine compartment of the minibus, but around 11 a.m. he was involved in an accident in the capital. The car was eventually towed away and taken to Toyota Ellensohn on Haller Strasse.
Suddenly two eyes glinted at each other
Workshop manager David Delvai wanted to inspect the damage there around 2 p.m. He opened the hood, shined a light into the engine compartment – and was shocked! “Two eyes sparkled at me,” the Volderer describes to the “Krone”. At first he suspected that a marten was behind the glittering “diamonds”.
But far from that: the eyes were of a completely frightened velvet paw. “It was between the intercooler and the bumper – exactly where the crash had occurred,” Delvai – himself a cat and dog owner – shakes his head in disbelief.
Wasenmeister warned
Delvai and his staff did not dare to free the kitten from its prison. The fear was too great for the completely frightened animal to defend itself. “So we closed the hood so the cat couldn’t run away,” Delvai says. He informed the waste manager of the city of Innsbruck.
Appearance unharmed
He arrived around 3 p.m. and removed the stowaway from the engine compartment wearing protective gloves. The tiger cat barely resisted and appeared unharmed. Delvai: “We couldn’t believe it, usually she gets crushed in an accident where she was cowering.”
The vet was already waiting
The wasenmeister took the female house tiger to the Mentlberg animal shelter. The vet was already waiting there and examined the young kitten. He confirmed the first impression: the cat was physically unharmed.
It is difficult to imagine what the animal has been through: a car ride under the hood, a collision, a drag move – and the lucky rescue.
Cat without a chip
It was initially unclear who owned the cat because it was not microchipped. For the time being, she recovered with the best care at the animal shelter.
Happy reunion
But there was a happy ending on Tuesday: the owner recognized her kitten on social media and came to pick her up. Unbelievable: one-year-old “Coco” escaped from her home in Innsbruck two months ago (!). So she was lucky in adversity.
