On Sunday afternoon, two boys came to the Hochkössen/Unterberg in the Tyrolean ski area in a dangerous location: the children left the safe slopes and came in rocky, rough terrain. The last station was finally for a waterfall. The rescue chain was started about the mother of one.
The official slopes were apparently too boring for the boys aged 11 and 12 – one with skis, the other on the road with a snowboard. So they ventured into the open site. However, this was completely different than planned!
25 meter high waterfall was the end station
The two friends stayed behind from the Alpine Lift to “Blahgraben” and came to a hopeless location above a 25 -meter high waterfall. They lost their orientation, did not get through. Eventually one of the boys inquired his mother, who in turn kept the Tyrol control center.
Kössen’s Mountain Rescue moved. “The boys did everything well and raised the alarm before something worse could have happened,” says Michael Fahringer, local manager of the Kössen Mountain Rescue, in an interview with the “Krone”.
More precise location thanks to WhatsApp and GPS
The boys had sent the emergency services on WhatsApp via GPS. “Thanks to the drone, the children could then be located quickly. Nine men from the Mountain Rescue moved and the two could recover unharmed, “Fahringer continues.
Not the first assignment there
The friends got away with the horror and were brought into the valley by the Mountain rescuers. The duo will probably avoid this area in the future. Incidentally, this was not the first use in this area for Mountain Rescue. That is why there was already a rope insurance.
