North Korea’s propaganda chief Kim Ki Nam died on Tuesday at the age of 94 from multiple organ failure. Considered the “Goebbels of North Korea,” Kim served under three rulers.
Leader Kim Jong Un visited the bar with the former party secretary and “work hero” to express his sincere condolences, the isolated country said. Kim Ki Nam played an “outstanding role in fully creating the monolithic leadership system of deserving comrade Kim Jong Un,” state media reported.
Kim Ki Nam served at the party headquarters for more than four decades, experts from the North Korea Leadership Watch website wrote during his lifetime. Accordingly, he exerted enormous influence “on the country’s press, media, visual arts and publishing sectors.” He also played a leading role in approving or writing essays, slogans and other media products in support of the succession to power.
