A German motorcyclist (54) was on the B178 in Unken in Salzburg on Wednesday afternoon when a dead tree trunk suddenly fell onto the road and caught the woman. Despite her injuries, she was able to avoid a fall.
The tree trunk hit the driver in the face and upper body. Only after 170 meters was she able to stop her engine. Two paramedics, who happened to follow, provided first aid.
The woman sustained injuries to her head, hands and chest. She was taken by the rescue helicopter Martin 6 to the accident hospital in Salzburg. The volunteer fire brigade responded and carried out clean-up work. Due to the accident, the B178 was closed to helicopters for a short time.
