Deadly game with fire Wednesday afternoon in Lower Austria: Two boys aged 14 and 15 had handled a lighter and a spray can in a forest. There was an explosion and a huge flame.
The two youths withdrew to the woods near Hollenstein an der Ybbs in the Amstetten district around 1:15 p.m. in the early afternoon. They had a spray can and a lighter with them. According to the police, the boys, who are from the districts of Perg in Upper Austria and Scheibbs (Lower Austria), may have tried to light the aerosol cans with a lighter.
Flame beam flared two meters high
The aerosol exploded with a flame about two meters high. The young man suffered serious burns. The 14-year-old was flown by the emergency doctor’s helicopter to the SMZ Ost in Vienna and the one-year-old boy was rescued to the state hospital Waidhofen an der Ybbs.
