Major search on Christmas Day in Vorarlberg: In the Lech/Zürs ski area, an avalanche apparently thundered towards the valley in the afternoon. Up to ten people could have been buried.
According to the first information, the snow masses would have come loose in the Trittkopf area in the open ski area. Shortly after 4 p.m., several helicopters and search parties were on their way to the avalanche cone.
According to the warning service, there was a great avalanche danger in Vorarlberg on Sunday due to wind and fresh snow.
A few hours earlier there was already an avalanche in the Tyrolean region of Sölden. It was initially feared that a person would be buried under masses of snow. After two and a half hours of searching, everything was safely given.
