A week before the US presidential elections, Donald Trump’s former chief strategist was released from prison. Now the ultra-right journalist Steve Bannon wants to intensify his “fight” for the Republicans again.
Bannon was sentenced to four months in prison for ignoring a subpoena from the committee investigating the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021 and for failing to provide requested documents. The 70-year-old described the allegations against him as politically motivated. “However, the four months in prison could not break me. “You made me stronger,” Bannon said after his release.
Wants to mobilize the Trump base
The former Trump campaign manager and host of the “War Room” podcast made it clear during his prison sentence that he wanted to continue influencing the election and mobilize the Trump base. He didn’t waste much time after his release; just a few hours later he presented his show.
Despite his time in prison, he is said to have kept in touch with a small circle of loyal followers to discuss current news and political issues.
