The total revenues (gross margin) of the major Spanish banks between January and September amounted to 92.2 billion euros, up 10.5%.
The six most important Spanish banks listed on the Ibex 35, Santander, BBVA, CaixaBank, Sabadell, Bankinter and Unicaja Banco, won together 23,656 million of euros between January and September this year, 20% more than in the same period in 2023, reaching a new record despite the extraordinary burden.
He Santander bank achieved the highest results, reaching the historic figure of 9,309 million, up 14%, while the BBVAin second place, earned 7,622 million between January and September this year, 28% more, and an amount never recorded before.
The third group with the highest profits, CaixaBank, earned 4,248 million from January to September, 16% more, while Sabadell, in fourth place, also broke a new record with a profit of 1,295 million, 26% more and the same figure as in all of 2023.
Bankinter, in turn, also achieved an unprecedented profit of 731 million, almost 7% more, while Unicaja, the sixth bank in Spain by asset volume, achieved 451 million, in this case 58% more and the best evolution of the results of the entire sector .
Bank taxes
The Basque Nationalist Party yesterday agreed with the Spanish government to negotiate with the regional institutions with regulatory capacity on taxes on multinational groups and banks. Therefore, both taxes have been integrated into the regional tax system and the agreement will be implemented through the Joint Economic Agreement Commission.
