Double attempted murder, numerous defamations and false evidence – Bernadette H. will have to answer before a jury at the Korneuburg Regional Court from Tuesday. In 2022, she is said to have first poisoned her then partner Andreas F. with a ‘special drink’ – he almost completely lost his sight – and a few months later drugged her with sleeping pills baked in muffins and then slit his wrist. All this to reach F.’s million.
But when that didn’t work, she feigned a knife attack on herself and accused the 42-year-old – Andreas F. was also in custody for a few months…
The blind victim wants to face the suspect
However, last summer the tide turned and the 32-year-old was arrested. Now the client of lawyer Sascha Flatz is facing a life sentence and placement in a forensic therapeutic center – the court psychiatrist says that Bernadette H. is very dangerous.
Five days are planned for the sensational trial, which attracts media from across the German-speaking region. On the second day, the victim Andreas F. will take the witness stand.
300,000 euros were demanded
His lawyer Arthur Machac about the ‘Krone’: “He wants the suspect to be present when he testifies and that she can see how my client is doing now.” Machac also arranges two bodyguards for the 42-year-old who will accompany him to court. The victim’s representative is demanding 300,000 euros in damages.
After 25 additional witnesses and three experts, a verdict will be reached on November 13.
