The strike of the textile trade in Bizkaia coincided this Tuesday with the start selling several large chains of shops. Today they have celebrated another day in favor of a decent agreement, and the unions have assured that the split has had a wide following in Bizkaia, but also in Gipuzkoa, where some companies have joined the call.
In addition to Bizkaia, the trade unions ELA and LAB had also summoned the textile workers of Gipuzkoa for today. For example, there were demonstrations at noon in both Bilbao and San Sebastián, and tomorrow they will have another day.
In a note, ELA urged the employers of Cecobi and Bizkaiadendak to show “seriousness and responsibility” in negotiating the agreement and to stop “blocking it with the proposal of regressive elements such as the abolition of the seniority bonus or the payroll on Saturday evenings in the summer”.
After acknowledging that during the meeting that took place at the negotiating table yesterday, the employers withdrew some measures rejected by the union, ELA believes that “not enough progress has been made” and has therefore maintained the strike call for today and tomorrow. .
And meanwhile, many big marches have started their summer sales. Although the official day is July 1, big brands such as Zara, Mango or El Corte Inglés have arrived a little on time and are already offering discounts today.
