One of the last high-ranking members of Hamas has been killed in an airstrike in Khan Younis, according to the Israeli army. The radical Islamic Palestinian organization has already confirmed Kassab’s death.
The military said the murdered man (see message below) was responsible for coordinating with other groups in the Gaza Strip. Hamas insiders told Reuters he was a representative of a group in the Gaza Strip but not a decision-maker in political office.
Government Secrets Passed: Arrests
Meanwhile, Israeli media unanimously reported the arrest of several people suspected of passing classified information from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office. This could have jeopardized war objectives in the Gaza Strip, the report said.
Netanyahu’s office denied media reports that his office staff were among those arrested. Israel’s domestic secret service Shin Bet, the army and police were reportedly involved in the investigation.
