Horrible traffic accident Monday morning in the Tyrolean district of Kitzbühel: a van crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle. All help came too late for the 68-year-old driver; he did not survive the violent collision.
The tragic accident took place around 8:15 am on the B178 Loferer Straße near Going am Wilden Kaiser. As police explained in response to a ‘Krone’ request, the 47-year-old driver of the van had crossed into the oncoming lane for an unknown reason.
Driver fatally injured
A head-on collision occurred with the oncoming car. All help came too late for the driver. The 68-year-old local man was fatally injured as a result of the violent crash.
The 47-year-old driver of the van, also a resident, escaped relatively lightly with minor injuries. He was taken to St. Johann Hospital for further evaluation.
Road closure after collision
Fire brigades from the area, rescue teams, emergency doctors, police and an emergency medical helicopter were present. Loferer Strasse had to be closed for a long time in the vicinity of the accident site.
