Deaths in Italy – Poisonous spiders in Europe: such is the danger

It measures only a few millimeters, but its bite can have fatal consequences: as recently as August, a 23-year-old Italian died after being bitten by a so-called violin spider. Venomous snakes, frogs, scorpions or spiders are usually found in the jungles of South America, the deserts of Africa or the Australian outback. Europe, on the other hand, is hardly known for its threatening, potentially deadly reptiles and arachnids.
