World premiere in Paris – 50 Lucky Luke originals are auctioned

Date:

50 drawings from the world-famous comic series Lucky Luke will be auctioned for the first time in Paris. Estimates per draw vary between 20,000 and 70,000 euros, according to Christie’s auction house. The auction on November 15 is eagerly awaited, because an original by the artist Morris has never been auctioned before.

The adventures of cowboy Lucky Luke, who is known to shoot faster than his shadow, have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide since the series began.

First part from 1947
The first Lucky Luke album was released in 1947. More than 70 others would follow him during his lifetime. In 2002, a year after his death, Morris’s final volume was published. Since then, the series has been designed by the French illustrator Achdé. The first issue did not appear in German until the end of 1958.

The drawings by Morris (1923-2001), whose real name is Maurice de Bevere, were previously on display at Christie’s in Brussels and Geneva.
