He Caja Rural-Seguros RGA announced today the renewal of Abel Balderstone for the 2025 season The 24-year-old Catalan, who was born in Ullastrell, will add to his third campaign as a professional in the ranks of the ProTeam team.
Balderstone started his cycling career as a junior in the Tot net-Terrassa club, then he joined the Valverde Team-Tiera Fecundis team but in 2022 join the Caja Rural subsidiary team.
During his time in the Navarrese team he proved to be a runner able to overcome the most demanding routes. In fact, it was seen in the 2023 edition of the Vuelta a España where, despite his debut in one of the great, achieved good results as in the case of yours twenty second position on stage with an end to English Heights.
This year started with knee problems which delayed the start of the season, not debuting until the end of April. The reward, however, came in Classic Terres de l’Ebre where he achieved a solo victory after overcoming cramps on the final climb of Mont Caro.
His first win as a professional he achieved this in 2023 in the fourth stage of Beiras and Serra da Estrela International Grand Prixin Portugal, where he also finished second in the general race classification of the elite category.
