The well-known puppy trader from Austria fooled the Hungarian investigators. She pretended to be ‘sick’ during the raid on her farm in Csönges and left the hospital that night. But the noose around them is likely to tighten!
Their ‘breeding station’ in Hungary was discovered on Wednesday – we reported. The case has now expanded dramatically: more than 500 dogs have been seized so far, probably originally intended for sale to Austria and Germany.
The hefty purchase price for the questionable ‘goods’: about 1,500 euros for an Australian Shepherd puppy whose papers provide no clues about the dark past in Hungary.
The stamp of a Styrian veterinarian on the documents and the transfer in Austria give buyers little idea what their new pet, its littermates and the parents have experienced just 50 kilometers from the border. The operator is being sought and the Austrian authorities have also been informed.
