Two flares fell on the compound of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They landed on the grounds of the house in Caesarea, police and the Shin Bet domestic intelligence agency said on Saturday.
The Prime Minister and his family were not at home. No damage was caused, it was said. The background to the incident was initially unclear. On Saturday evening, Israelis took to the streets again across the country to demand a hostage deal, and against their government, but not in the stricken city of Caesarea.
Netanyahu has many critics. Many accuse him of failing to take personal responsibility for the political and military failure in the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023. It is often said that the politician prolonged the wars in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon to stay in power. There is also a corruption case against Netanyahu.
More violence in public spaces
Many Israeli politicians were shocked after the incident on Saturday evening, including opposition leader Yair Lapid and President Yitzhak Herzog. Herzog spoke of a “dangerous incident” and an increase in violence in public spaces.
