A murderous act of bloodshed rocks New York: On Monday, a knifeman attacked several people in Manhattan. Two men were killed and one woman’s life is in danger.
“Today, three innocent New Yorkers just going about their daily lives were victims of a terrible, terrible attack. Two lost their lives. One is fighting for her life,” said Mayor Eric Adams.
The motives for the similar acts of violence committed in various parts of Manhattan would be further investigated.
According to police reports, the crimes began Monday morning New York time in southwest Manhattan. Without warning, a construction worker was stabbed in the stomach.
Random attack
The attack appeared to be random and there apparently was no argument that preceded the incident. The perpetrator was able to escape and the victim died in hospital. Just two hours later, police say a fisherman was stabbed on the East River in eastern Manhattan. He also died.
Another 30 minutes later, the perpetrator attacked and seriously injured a woman in front of the UN building on the East River. He was arrested a few blocks away. The man was identified as a 51-year-old homeless man who has been behind bars eight times for crimes.
