The attack took place hours before Putin approved a doctrine allowing a nuclear response to a conventional attack.
The Russian Defense Ministry assured on Tuesday that Ukrainian armed forces attacked the Brians region overnight with US ATACMS long-range missiles, days after the government of The United States gave the green light for the use of these projectiles beyond the borders of Ukraine.
The ministry reported the shot around 3:25 a.m. (local time) of at least six missilesfive of which were shot down by Russian air defense systems. The attack caused no personal injury, although remnants of rockets fell on a military installation and caused a fire, according to the official version from Moscow, collected by the TASS agency.
Last weekend, Joe Biden’s administration revoked its veto on the use of ATACMS to attack targets in Russia, opening a new range of potential operations for Ukrainian forces as these missiles have a radius of range up to 300 kilometers.
Faced with this, Russia warned that it will consider that any blow with Western missiles on its territory means an entry into the NATO war, and this Tuesday it has already adopted a new nuclear doctrine that allows the use of nuclear weapons against attacks with conventional weapons, including drones, that threaten Russian sovereignty.
