An animal helper found a shot cat in St. Johann. He lives despite air gun projectiles in his body, three of which are even in his head. These should be removed soon. Everyone hopes for a successful operation.
Tanja Grundner-Höll is shocked! The St. Johann woman found a cat in St. Johann im Pongau on November 14. The poor animal was disheveled but friendly. “We wanted to take the stray dog to be neutered, he also seemed to be in pain.”
The X-rays taken by veterinarian Elisabeth Müller in Altenmarkt then revealed the sad truth: “Konstantin” – as the cat was affectionately called – had three projectiles in his head, two in his chest, one in his stomach. “There is an animal abuser on the loose,” says Grundner-Höll. The police have been informed.
The extent of the animal abuse is not immediately clear
The head of the Tierhilfe association Felicita received the tip about the tomcat from the Pfisterer company, which reported that three cats needed help: a mother cat with two babies. “Konstantin” happened to be there and so Grundner-Höll took care of him.
The extent of the animal abuse was not immediately clear. “The gunshot wounds have all healed.” So ‘Konstantin’ has been living with six projectiles in his body for a long time.
Some of them need to be removed. “The projectiles in the head – except those in the eye – must remain inside. We will try to get the others out.” The operation will take place at the small animal center in Bruck an der Glocknerstrasse. Grundner-Höll expects that the treatment costs will be around a thousand euros: “That is a lot. We are funded exclusively by donations, I hope we get something for the treatment of ‘Konstantin’. The operation will be complicated. Everyone hopes that “Konstantin” survives the procedure.
