After a fake phone call from an alleged Vitali Klitschko to the ruling mayor of Berlin, Franziska Giffey, the real mayor of Kiev hopes for an early meeting with the SPD politician.
After hearing about the fake call to Giffey and the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martinez-Almeida, Klitschko told the German newspaper “Bild”: “I hope we can call through my official channels soon.” no translators.
During a video call on Friday, Giffey expressed doubts as to whether she had ties with the mayor of Kiev as planned. The conversation then ended prematurely. Giffey then tweeted that she was asked if they could speak Russian at the beginning of the conversation. Other employees may not understand what is being discussed.
Digital manipulation in video switching?
The Senate Chancellery assumes digital manipulation: “Apparently we are dealing with deep forgeries,” said Senate spokeswoman Lisa Frerichs. A complaint was lodged against an unknown person for false identity pretenses and the mayor’s office in Kiev was informed.
Klitschko then offered Giffey a “real” phone call through official channels. The mayor of Berlin responded: “Thanks for the offer, you’re welcome! After all, we have a lot to talk about.”
Also in Madrid, Mayor José Luis Martinez-Almeida quickly became suspicious of the video call with the alleged Mayor Klitschko and broke off the conversation, Mayor Daniel Bardavio Colebrook confirms. Martinez-Almeida calls the real Klitschko on Saturday.
