Day one successfully struck! Over the course of Friday, hundreds of thousands of people made a pilgrimage to the nearly three-mile area between Nordbrücke and Reichsbrücke to celebrate an island festival “like then.” From the point of view of the police, the first day of the festival was quiet and peaceful.

There was also a good atmosphere on the 14 themed islands and their eleven stages, where stars such as Mathea, Melissa Naschenweng, the duo Edmund and Nico Santos entranced tens of thousands of people. In addition to the music programme, the various information stands and sports facilities were well attended – especially in the “Krone Area”.

Luminous Sign Against War in Ukraine
The lavish celebrations contrast with the commemoration of the war in Ukraine: at 9.55 p.m. all the stages stopped at once, followed by a sea of lights as a sign of solidarity. Ukrainian pop band Latexfauna will be playing on the “Peace Stage” all three days and donations for refugee aid will be collected with a cup deposit.

The next highlight awaits on Saturday with the best festival weather. Because the Austrian popper Peter Cornelius is “ready for the island” again. The concert on the main stage starts at 10:15 pm (after Italo bard Umberto Tozzi).
