The fully renovated Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof will now once again be an attractive gateway to the city for commuters and attract Viennese people for trips into the countryside. The train station should act as a driving force for the transformation of the entire environment, from Julius-Tandler-Platz to the entire Althan Grounds.
In the truest sense of the word, the Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof has been renovated from the inside out. While the construction site for the “Francis” office building still dominates on the outside, the train station has been completely renovated on the inside. Instead of the concrete gray 1970s look, a spacious arrival hall now dominates, in which 4,000 square meters of glass and wall cladding and 5,000 square meters of natural stone floor have been invested.
