Brave heroes – man hit girlfriend, guys rushed to help

Date:

Great appearance for real heroes: Once a year, the brave Styrians are put in the spotlight. Thursday was the day: young people, workers, employees, coffee house owners, retirees – they all put a stop to criminals.

You can take a piece from cousins Sebastian and Max (15, 16), but also from Sandro and Paul (both 15), also cousins. They have known each other since kindergarten and met at the Stainzer Hauptplatz in April. Suddenly, deserted scenes unfolded: “A man attacked his girlfriend, hit her with his fist and threw her against a fence,” they describe to the “Krone”. Two boys ran up to the attacker and shouted at him to stop, which had effect: he fled in a taxi. The others called for reinforcements, helped the injured woman to her feet and took her to the police.

It is thanks to the boy quartet that a dangerous situation ended slightly. And they agree: “Yes, we would do it again any time!”

Bad scenes took place in Graz last September: a man (38) shot his girlfriend with a bow and arrow. Two arrows pierced her body and her life was temporarily in danger. The perpetrator fled in his white car, but suffered a flat tire near Kapfenstein. Stefan, who works at Öamtc, was called up and his girlfriend Renate accompanied him. When we arrived on site there was no one there.

“We were looking for the man and I discovered him at the entrance of a house,” says Renate. Both immediately felt uncomfortable. “He looked like he was on drugs, came way too close to me with his iron to change a tire and was in a hurry,” says Stefan. When everything was done, he called the police. Shortly afterwards the man was hit by the Cobra and shot himself. Renate and Stefan are happy that they got out of the situation safely. And they are already looking forward to their wedding on Saturday.

The nightmare of many Styrians: In April, Walter Praunegger was attacked in his house by a burglar wearing a balaclava, because the landlord and his wife Sylvia caught him rummaging through a shelf. However, the intruder did not run away like his two accomplices, but instead grabbed a gun on the wall. Knowing that the weapon had been discharged, the 70-year-old defended himself and suffered extensive damage.

His wife had now called the police and neighbor Dietmar Hirtenfelder (for help). With their combined efforts, they pushed the intruder to the ground. “I’m quite stubborn, that’s why nothing else happened to me,” the victim joked with ‘Krone’ editor Hannes Baumgartner three days later.

Suspicious figures lingered on the street in front of the Sieglinde and Wolfgang Wetzelberger coffee house in Friedberg. Peter Berghofer also watched everything from his apartment. When the local jeweler was actually broken into shortly afterwards, everything was clear to the villagers. They described their observations to the police and provided useful descriptions of the individuals so that the perpetrators could be identified by the police.

Aronia farmer Herbert Gartner from Paurach near Feldbach actually just wanted to check his berries – suddenly he chased a brutal gang of burglars from Hungary in his car and went on a wild chase with the criminals. During the fast drive, the Styrian informed the police, who, thanks to his intervention, were able to arrest the suspects shortly afterwards. It turned out that they caused about 100,000 euros in damage!

Jogger Patrick Seibriger reacted correctly when a car sped towards him in September. This seemed so suspicious to him that he noticed license plate fragments and the type of vehicle. Turns out he had the right nose! Shortly afterwards he heard from the media about an accident in which two girls (14, 15) were hit by a car on their moped and fell. The jogger reported to the police, who tracked down the perpetrator.

At the beginning of October, two men and two women stole money and jewelry worth tens of thousands of euros when they broke into a single-family home in Hart near Graz.

What the four criminals did not notice, however, was that they were being observed during their crime by two community workers, Bernhard Medved and Andreas Kobald, who immediately alerted the police. As a result of the immediate search, the perpetrators were arrested and part of the loot was seized.
